The Romanian Orthodox Cathedral is dedicated to The Assumption of Virgin Mary and was built in the 1940s in the Neo-Byzantine style. The dome imitates the model of the celebrated Saint Sophia Cathedral. The cathedral square was restored in 1993, when a statue honouring the memory of Avram Iancu was also erected.
